The stamp duty holiday for first-time buyers buying properties under £250,000 is due to end on 24 March 2012.  Residential property sales edged up slightly during January and February as an increased number of first time buyers are looking to beat the stamp duty deadline. With lending from the major banks still cautious, first time buyers will inevitably turn to other sources, such as family members, for help to beat the stamp duty holiday and there could be a rush to buy amongst first time buyers this month.
